The hot weather turned bitterly cold and dreary overnight this week. But yesterday, a lot warmer and very sunny. Today is a repeat of a glorious day. We will be maneuvering ourselves from field to field for football, soccer, football, and soccer this afternoon.
But, despite the running around and competition, today is such a day. This poem comes at the end of Shiva Rea’s Relaxation CD, Yoga Nidra, and stirs me out of a very deep sleep. It’s one of my favorite poems.
On a day when the wind is perfect,
the sail just needs to open and the world is full of beauty.
Today is such a day.
My eyes are like the sun that makes promises;
the promise of life that it always
keeps each morning.
The living heart gives to us as does that luminous sphere,
both caress the earth with great tenderness.
This is a breeze that can enter the soul.
This love I know plays a drum. Arms move around me;
who can contain their self before my beauty?
Peace is wonderful,
but ecstatic dance is more fun, and less narcissistic;
gregarious He makes our lips.
On a day when the wind is perfect,
the sail just needs to open
and the love starts.
Today is such day.
Jalaludin Rumi
Hey kids, remember when we only had this to do all day?
I obviously didn’t ever finish that DVD because I missed this somehow. Lovely. I love the idea of ecstatic dance even though I am weary tired to the bone today.
(I might need that boat.)
i was watching sailboats yesterday and remembering back when I used to sail….
lovely poem
We had a beautiful day here, too. That poem is just perfect for a day like we had.
Well as you read on my blog my Sunday was fantastic as well – hard work but well worth it (now that it’s done 🙂 but I have to say I would have loved to have been on athletic fields watching sport. I did however get to see the rugby world cup match last night while eating Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food, the perfect end of a perfect day. LOVE that poem!! Glad you had a good weekend & hope this week continues to go well for you!
just wanted to stop by and thank you for your comment, funny that your previous post was all about the need for comments! i have one regular commenter, and i haven’t seen much of her lately, but according to sitemeter there are plenty of people coming by just not commenting! feel free to come back, i like comments!
