It’s true. Your car actually has a simple filter right there behind the glove box that filters the air coming into your car. Like all filters doing its job, this filter needs to be changed periodically. It takes only a few minutes — almost seconds to pull it out and replace it with a new one. When I pulled out our original factory-installed cabin air filter, I saw that our car was allergy-generating central. Here’s a picture of what mine looked like when I pulled it out…
Here you can see leaves, feathers, and dandelion seeds that the filter was able to trap before it got into the car. I shudder to think about what else is in this filter that I might see if I looked with a magnifying glass. What happens if you don’t change the cabin air filter? The filter keeps getting dirtier and the air entering your vent system could become restricted, causing your air conditioning or your defrost system to not work as efficiently as it should. So for as little as $15 you can have a brand new cabin air filter. How often should you change this filter? Usually about every 15,000 miles. If you still have the factory-installed version in your car, you might want to replace it right now. That’s because the filter that came installed in your car is simply a standard filter — the FRAM Fresh Breeze® cabin air filter includes carbon and ARM&HAMMER® baking soda to help absorb odors as they enter your car. You can find the right air filter for your car by using this handy chart. There are easy to follow installation instructions online — but let me show you how simple it is to replace your car’s cabin air filter.
FRAM Fresh Breeze cabin air filters may be purchased online at Amazon.com or at your local Walmart, O’Reilly Auto Parts, or Meijer. To download a $3 off rebate, click here. Visit FRAM® on Facebook and Twitter for more information!

We get our carpets cleaned regularly to help reduce allergies.
the only tip i can think of is to clean often!
We are slowly replacing our carpeting with wood flooring.
Dust daily and vacuum the carpet daily

I bought an allergy reducing vacuum cleaner for my home.
Religiously dust and vacuum with a hepa vacuum cleaner
Try to keep house dust free.
One tip is to shower before bed. Takes all the day’s accumulation of pollen off you before you drag it to bed with you.
My ideas are to keep my house and car well ventilated and clean/dust and disinfect often.
We just try to keep the car as clean as possible.
It’s amazing what a difference keeping everything clean will make during allergy season!
