There’s A Mystery Just Waiting To Be Solved — And I’m Up
Located somewhere in Silicon Valley, my client has shown up, maybe, on your own Television Screen, when he was interviewed on 60 Minutes regarding a new technology that will soon be employed to solve one of our biggest media problems. I know it wasn’t much, but, hearing this client describe me, a person who he can’t, thankfully, see, as one of the most knowledgeable persons about their products, was an honorable moment. Because, what he can’t see is that I’m just a mom who is likely sitting in her kitchen with a warm cup of cinnamon tea, taking the call between school and practice schedules, and hoping the kids will settle…

Solid, Like a Rock
When I interviewed this sweet lady, there was no sign of quivering, shaking of panic. Yet, she was recalling years she spent living on the streets with her toddler sons — one time even pregnant. Read her story here. And this woman, acted as if she had never done as much as she has done, to help women and families. See what I mean here.

“It just doesn’t feel like Christmas unless I’m out making deliveries.” While most kids were busy making Christmas lists, Karmen was out with her mom and siblings, giving presents away. “In our spare time, they wiped down the shelves off the food pantry.” When I’m interviewing someone for an article, I usually try to type everything they say into my Ipad — so I don’t miss a word. Every “um,” “ah,” “and” and “well” is there… and I know, if there are stumbled, stuttered words over a particular topic, that this is the that needs to be explored. Every stumble is a clue to something bigger. You learn more about what is not said,…

To Those Who Abandon Their Own Storefronts
My 7th Grade English Teacher : If you want to understand something, teach it. If you want to know something, write about it. They asked me to write a column; a series of articles to show how storytelling could help companies explain their products and services to customers. I thought, I’m just simply going to “re-tell†everyone what they already know. What’s so profound about explaining information about your product, and getting it out there for people to see? What I found instead, was how so many companies get it wrong. Poorly written websites, which never get to the meat of what consumers want to know: How does your product…

The Bicycle Wheel and Indulging in the News
Three years ago, when we were in the Russian River Valley in California, we ate in a bistro. In the back of this restaurant was this painting of a bicycle wheel. I remembered it, stored in the archives of my photo collection, when I wrote this article, and created a graphic to go with the article. The article is the first of my new column… my next deadline is May 1. The article focused on finding a fast way to read all that you need to read on the internet — so that even if you’re just reading the headlines, you’ll know what’s going on. I just started using Feedly…
