I was so happy that I took advantage of a cold, dreary Saturday afternoon this past spring, and made these DIY 100% All-Natural Gel Air Freshners. No chemicals, no artificial scents — no toxins.
And the scent is stil vibrant, six weeks later.
They are the perfect way to show appreciation for teachers. Of course, I had forgotten about fresheners, and last night, in the middle of the chaos of graduation eve, for a fifth and eighth grader, I was seriously considering making Lemon Thumbprint cookies for those exceptional, creative teachers. Then, I walked into the bathroom, and that faint whiff of lavendar, orange and cinnamon met my nose, and I said, “Wait a minute…” That one little jar has been quietly working away in the bathroom for six weeks, and it’s still going strong. I made extra jars of these air fresheners, with the lid sealed tight, and kept them in the pantry, for such a time as this. The best part about making them six weeks earlier, is now I can attest to the validity of these little pick-me-ups. They work. Quietly, and unobtrusively, and indefinitely. This is the best way to extend the life of an essential oil I’ve found yet.
Making them is as quick and easy as boiling water. You almost wish it would take longer, because they’re kind of fun to make.
