Running From Bears

The doctor shared a bit of good news with me. He explained that the arthritis from the injury is actually under my kneecap..it’s not in a position where my tibia is rubbing against my knee. So, he explained, if it’s a beautiful fall day, and you feel like going for a run, for three miles — go for it.

He explained that I can’t be a “runner”, but every once in a while, I could run.  Not today. But when my strength is back.

And, do you want to know what I immediately thought? I felt relief.  I felt a huge sense of relief, because I no longer have to worry about the fact that, if I was in a situation when I had to run from a bear, that I actually could.  It’s a matter of empowerment to know that if I had to, I could run from a bear.
