Flaxseed Crackers: You Can Do This At Home

Have you had them yet? Those crunchy, nutty flaxseed crackers in those fancy packages with the high price tag? They are savory, and taste, OH, SO GOOD with goat cheese.

I have been rationing my box of crackers — the boys don’t even know I have them. These crackers not only taste good, but they have absolutely no white or wheat flour in them…meaning, they do not impact my waistline.

Making them at home, I soon learned, was easier than the effort of trying to hide them. So easy.

All you do is mix ground flaxseed meal with a bit of salt, and just enough water to make them stick together — but not too much.

  • 1 cup flax seed meal
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water

From there — you can personalize your crackers — think of flatbread pizza for inspiration:

Other cheeses?

Sage — Rosemary, Basil — Arugula – endless options

Roasted garlic

Roasted tomatoes

Olives…

Then, you spread the flaxseed mixture in a baking sheet (lined with parchment paper). Then, use another clean sheet of parchment paper on top of your flaxseed mixture to “flatten” your crackers with a rolling pin.

You can “score” your crackers before they go into a 350 oven, for 20 minutes.

Just cook them into they are snappy.
