What The?
The little boys definitely decided they wanted a bean fort again this year — but they assured me they would be building it. Considering their talent as Lego Builders, cardboard box builders, and train builders, plus the wide variety of experience they’ve had in the past helping me build the fort, I confidently handed them the garden stakes and string… (remember this?) (Flashback…kind of brings tears to my eyes to see how little he was….) And this is what they came up with?! The beans will be so confused they won’t know which way to grow.

You Are A Delight
I’ve been holding these words around in my head… I will forget them, if I don’t get them out! “You’re arms are looking skinny….are you getting enough to eat?” (He’s my big eater… not even the picky one.) “Well, you know, food doesn’t get to my arms.” Ahhh yes… Of course.

Plastic Bliss
Technically, he wasn’t really allowed to enter the Lego contest, because, technically, I was “working” for the Ohio Department of Tourism. But, because he worked so hard on his exhibit, and he generated quite a bit of publicity, they sent us four tickets so Mom and Dad and the two little guys could go to Lego Fest. After about hour 2, that grating sound of plastic scraping against each other as parts were…

The Lake: Behind the Scenes
While the lake does command center stage, it is not the first thing we see when we drive down the lake road. Yet, the lake may be the spot the boys run to, before the car has even been put into park… no matter what the water temperature is. (The temperatures soared into the upper 70s, low 80s this Spring Break, but the water temp was still a cool 40-50!) There is another place that holds far more action, and far more attraction for the boys. It’s the pre-lake. The swamp. Where everything in the lake, comes from. It’s the Alpha of the lake. I would never have noticed it,…

About Those Dresses
At first, he made me a slew of dresses in the prettiest origami paper he had. Now, I use them as bookmarks, because I love looking at them so much — I can’t get enough of them. When I ask him to make me a new one, he never hesitates… he just grabs a sheet of paper (anything — even pages from the big Restoration Hardware catalogue — that’s the grayish-brownish dress.) My friend teaches art at a local elementary school. I showed off my dresses to her — she melted. She asked my little origami man to come to her school to teach the kids how to make origami.…
