So, you can use a plastic bag to keep flies away, and a glass bottle, with a furniture felt floating in a bottle on a picnic table to keep flies away. 
(So, add some flowers to that bottle, to make it pretty.)
But what about the ants?
There’s good news. Ants hate cinnamon. So, what better addition to your picnic table than a sprinkling of cinnamon.
